Training: Mick Potter gained a BA Honours degree in Creative Design at the Central School of Art and Design in London where he was introduced to theatre sound.
Theatre: As a Sound Operator credits include Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats, Song & Dance and Starlight Express as well as Little Shop of Horrors and Matador. He was Sound Supervisor for the London production of Starlight Express and Associate Sound Designer on many productions including Starlight Express in Las Vegas. Sound designs include the world première of Saturday Night Fever at the London Palladium as well as productions at the Minskoff Theatre, New York, Cologne, Buenos Aires and UK and North American tours. Other recent designs include New Magic of the Musicals; Dick Whittington – London’s Musical directed by Gillian Lynne (Sadler’s Wells); Black Goes With Everything – a new musical by Don Black, directed by Arlene Phillips; and Last of the Mohicans in Canada.
Opera/Concerts: Extensive work as a freelance Sound Designer in opera and on many large scale commercial events as diverse as Purcell’s opera The Fairy Queen (Lisbon Coliseum), Arlene Phillips’s musical revue Broadway (Dusseldorf), EMI’s 100th and Elton John’s 50th birthday celebrations and The Lance Burton Show in Las Vegas.
Mick Potter lives in London with his wife Ruth and sons Joseph and William.
