Last night saw the star-studded premiere of the new Phantom of the Opera movie at London’s Odeon Leicester Square.
Flaming torches illuminated the outside of the cinema as an endless stream of celebrities walked the red carpet to the cheers of an excited crowd and the flashes of the photographers.
Prior to the screening, Executive Producer, Austin Shaw, stepped up to the stage to introduce Director Joel Schumacher. Joel then called the principals onto the stage one by one and then finally composer Andrew Lloyd Webber who gave an emotional speech – thanking Joel for making the “perfect” movie of his show.
Following the screening, a phantastic party was held at London’s Olympia. The venue was completely transformed with props and sets from the film evoking the Opera House setting. The focal point was the magnificent chandelier hanging over a dance floor recreated from the graveyard complete with gargoyles and statues. Hundreds of red roses tied with black ribbons were also suspended from the ceiling. Actors dressed in masquerade costumes milled amongst the guests.
We will leave it to our visitors to submit their own reviews of the film which goes on general release on 10th December in the UK… all that remains to be said is that it should not be missed!!!!
