Shona Lindsay, Matt Rawle and Poppy Tierney will star alongside David Essex in the brand new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Aspects of Love this Autumn. Aspects of Love opens at the Theatre Royal Newcastle on Friday 31st August prior to a major national tour.
Shona Lindsay stars as the alluring actress Rose Vibert, Matt Rawle plays Alex Dillingham, an English student travelling through France before his call up, and Poppy Tiernery is the flamboyant Italian sculptress Guilietta Trapani. Alex’s uncle, George, is played by David Essex. Aspects of Love is a heartbreaking love story spanning 20 years. Passion, desire, family ties and friendship bind five people and three generations together as they come to appreciate how love changes everything…
David Essex has enjoyed a remarkable career as a recording artist, performer and composer. He has written, recorded and produced albums and singles that have sold millions of copies worldwide. He has 23 Top 30 hits to his name including the number one singles “Hold Me Close2 and “Gonna Make You a Star”. As popular as ever, the CD “David Essex Greatest Hits” which was released last year, went Gold. This is, of course, not the first time he has starred in one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals, having originated the pivotal role of Che in the legendary West End production of Evita in 1978. Other stage credits include Jesus in the original London production of Godspell and Sir Tony Lumpkin in She Stoops to Conquer directed by Sir Peter Hall.
Shona Lindsay’s credits include Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, Sandy in Grease and Milly in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers all in the West End. She is a regular on BBC Radio 2 and her television credits include two series of the critically acclaimed Adrian Mole and Sandra in Mother’s Ruin.
Matt Rawle is currently starring as Che in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of Evita at the Adelphi Theatre, London. In the West End he has played Chris in Miss Saigon and the title role in Martin Guerre. His other credits include Marius in the UK tour of Les Miserables and Assasins at the Crucible Sheffield.
Poppy Tiernery’s credits include the title role in Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre, Cosette in the national tour of Les Miserables and Ellen in Miss Saigon at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
This brand new production is directed by Nikolai Foster, one of the country’s leading young talents. His productions include the musicals Assassins and A Chorus Line at the Crucible Sheffield, A Streetcar Named Desire at Theatr Clwyd, Of Mice and Men at the Mercury Theatre Colchester and Season’s Greetings at the Liverpool Playhouse.
Design is by Rob Jones whose recent credits include Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of The Sound of Music at the London Palladium, the National Theatre’s acclaimed revival of Noises Off and Rebecca starring Nigel Havers. Choreography is by Gary Lloyd, lighting design by Guy Hoare, sound design by Mike Walker and musical supervision and orchestrations by David Shrubsole.
