When Cats World Tour tickets went on sale on Sunday for Shanghai ‘s Grand Theatre the box office record for single-day tickets sales was broken.
The Shanghai Daily reports from China that the theatre started selling tickets for the production’s third run from 29th April to 11th May. About 5,000 tickets were sold, roughly 2,000 more than the record high set on 27th February when tickets for the second run went to market.
“This figure may be the record for all theatres in Shanghai,” said theatre spokesman Zhang Xiaoding.
The newspaper reports that two young men for Baoshan District were the first in line at about 5am yesterday morning. By the time sales began at noon, hundreds of people were lined up at the box office.
