Love Never Dies opens in Hamburg

The sequel to the hit musical, The Phantom of the Opera, had its debut in Hamburg, Germany last week. Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber attended the opening and joined the cast on stage after the performance for the curtain call. Love Never Dies originally opened on the West End in 2010 and has since been performed in Australia, Denmark, Austria and Japan.

Love Never Dies is set in 1910, approximately ten years after the events of The Phantom of the Opera. After mysteriously disappearing from the opera house, The Phantom fled to Coney Island in New York to find a new life among the screaming joy rides and freak-shows while continuing to write his music. Meanwhile, Christine Daaé has become one of the world’s finest soprano, suffering in an ailing marriage to Raoul. Therefore, it is with great excitement that she accepts an anonymous invitation to perform in a renowned opera house in New York. In a final bid to win back her love, the Phantom lures Christine, her husband, and their young son Gustave from Manhattan; to the glittering and glorious world of Coney Island… not knowing what is in store for them….
