Live cinema relays of The Phantom of the Opera 25th at The Royal Albert Hall a record breaker!
Early box office estimates show that the 25th anniversary gala performances of The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall, which were relayed live to cinemas worldwide this weekend, reached Number 1 at the UK box office on Sunday 2 October and Number 3 overall for the weekend. I had the absolute honour to be at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, and even better sitting on the very front row. I’m still buzzing at the most phantastic night I have ever had and still can’t quite believe what I saw and heard. Ramin and Sierra were so amazing and for my favourite Phantom–Michael Crawford to come on stage was a dream come true..I wonder how they can top that for the 30th anniversary?

My wife and I could only attend the cinema showing but boy did we enjoy it. Absolutely fantastic. Ramin and Sierra were superb as were the rest of the cast. However, it only brought home the tragedy of the closure of Love Never Dies. With the Phantom possibly on a UK tour next year, is there no chance of a revival of this outstanding musical. The thought had occured to me that there is maybe only room for one production in the West End, so why not tour one whilst the other hosts in the London. Just a thought. It would be so sad if LND in the UK again was gone forecer. Here’s hoping.
