Registration
You will see when you fill in the registration form that we ask for some personal details from you which enables us to provide you with information on products or events and other information we think you might like.
Please make sure your details are correct and up to date so that we can provide you with this information efficiently. You do not have to give us any information if you do not want to but you may not get the full benefit of our site if you leave certain pieces of information out of the registration form.
Entering our site
To a computer your email address is just a set of numbers. Unless you tell us your email address is we will not know who you are if we need to contact you. We record these e-mail numbers when you visit our site to provide statistical data only, for example how long someone has spent on the site, which sections were visited where visitors come from and who their internet service provider is. We do not match these numbers with any information you give us if you register.
There may however be occasions when we may try to identify you from these numbers because it is the law or so that we can protect our services and other visitors to our site. Or we might do it to make sure you are complying with our terms and conditions.
How we collect information from you
We sometimes give the information we record to any advertisers on our site and business partners.
Cookies are small files of information which are stored on your computer. Web sites you visit ask your computer to store this information and retrieve it from your computer so that they can keep track of things, like other web sites, you visit. We will use cookies to store your password so that you dont have to keep filling in a registration form every time you want to log in. We may use them to study things such as places on our web site where you visit and which bits of our site you like best. We may also use them to make sure that any advertisements on our site arent always the same when you visit each time and that you see advertising which you might like more than others. If you click on an advertisement to go through to the advertisers site, they may also use cookies and unfortunately we dont have any control over what they use their cookies for.
If you do not want to receive cookies you will have to adjust your computers settings to stop them being used but you may find that our website may not function properly or is slower. You might also have to keep entering registration information every time you log on. It also means we would find it difficult to give you any other information which you might be particularly interested in because we would not be able to recognise that it was you visiting our site.
How do we look after your information?
We make sure that all the information we hold on you is as safe as possible. When you log on you will be given a password.
Do not disclose your password to anyone. You will be responsible for making sure that you keep your password safe and secret. If for any reason you would like to change your password please notify us at querymaster@reallyuseful.co.uk Whenever you buy things on our site, we will provide you with links to recommended third party retailers, who will inform you of their own terms and conditions and the method of payment encryption.
If you put messages on our bulletin board you should be aware that you are disclosing information to anyone else who might happen to be visiting the bulletin board. This means that others can get hold of any information that you give in these areas and you may get messages from people who you don’t know.
You are responsible for your information on the internet. Make sure that you are careful when you visit our site in a public place like an internet cafe. We can only be responsible for your information when it is received on our computers not whilst it is in any intermediate environment.
When do we give information you provide us to other people?
Unless you let us, we never give your information to anyone outside The Really Useful Group or any of our affiliate web sites or the companies we use to look after your information. Where we use other companies to look after your information we ask them to make sure they keep your information safe and secret.
There will be some circumstances where we will have to give people information on you because it is the law. If you tick the box on our registration forms which says we can allow third parties to use it we may provide this information to selected companies who would like to tell you about their products or services.
When we allow the use of this information we ask them to make sure they keep your information safe and secret. We never disclose information to advertisers. What we do is show you the advertisements of advertisers you might be most interested in bearing in mind what we know about you from your registration information. We never give any information to the advertiser themselves so they will never know about you.
We do give advertisers information where you are not identified such as how many people have clicked on their advertisements, what age range those people are and whether they are male or female. This may also include information about their particular interests, however they will never know who these people are.
