THE REALLY USEFUL COMPANY ASIA PACIFIC PTY LTD
The Really Useful Company Asia Pacific Pty Ltd (RUCAP) is a fully owned subsidiary of the London based The Really Useful Group Ltd (RUG), which is owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Based in Sydney, RUCAP is responsible for RUG’s activities in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and South Africa, including producing, co-production and licensing.
Past RUCAP productions in Australia have included Aspects of Love, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sunset Boulevard and Cats.
In Asia RUCAP has presented Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Most recently a new production of The Phantom of the Opera opened in Cape Town, South Africa before moving to seasons in Pretoria and Shanghai. The Production moves to Seoul, South Korea in June 2005 and to Taipei in January 2006. The World Tour of Cats has been presented in Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul and most recently in Athens, Greece.
Further plans for RUCAP include an Asian production of Bombay Dreams, first produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber in London in June 2002. Licensed productions in Japan include a recent, new production of Evita and productions of Cats and The Phantom of the Opera currently playing in Tokyo.
