Marius de Vries is an internationally renowned songwriter and record producer.
Film: Producer and music director for Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge; composed the original score for Stephan Elliott’s Eye of the Beholder starring Ewan McGregor and Ashley Judd; co-produced, co-composed and co-wrote the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo & Juliet; worked with U2 on Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me for Batman Forever and with Tina Turner on the title song for the ‘James Bond’ film Goldeneye; producer, co-writer and musical supervisor for the soundtrack of The Avengers starring Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman.
Recording: Produced numerous tracks on Madonna’s Ray of Light, Bjork’s Vespertine, and Perry Farrell’s Song Yet To Be Sung; co-wrote and co-produced tracks on Robbie Robertson’s Contact From the Underworld of Red Boy and Neil Finn’s Try Whistling This; produced and co-wrote tracks on Kelli Ali’s forthcoming LP Tigermouth, Mel C’s Northern Star, and Anja Garbarek’s Balloon Mood; additional production and mixing on David Bowie’s Seven and Survive singles, David Gray’s Sail Away from White Ladder, and several tracks on P J Harvey’s Is This Desire? Other credits include Massive Attack’s Protection, Björk’s Post and Debut, U2’s Pop and Madonna’s Bedtime Stories.
Awards: 2002 BAFTA for Moulin Rouge; BAFTA and Ivor Novello award for Romeo & Juliet; Grammy nominations for Madonna’s Ray of Light, Robbie Robertson’s Contact From the Underworld of Red Boy and the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.
