Sarah Ryan
Ensemble
Sarah Ryan was born in Lichfield and educated at Wrekin College, Shropshire. In 1988 she won the BBC Choirgirl of the Year competition, and the following year recorded a radio special, Sarah Ryan Sings. She has since made numerous broadcasts for BBC Radio.
Theatre includes: Christine in The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty’s and Manchester Opera House), Christine in Ken Hill’s Phantom of the Opera (UK tour), Les Misérables (Palace Theatres, London and Manchester) in which she understudied and played Cosette, the original cast of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (Dominion), Josephine in HMS Pinafore (Opera Della Luna) and Cinderella opposite Brian Conley (Theatre Royal, Plymouth). Sarah was part of the Olivier Award-winning ensemble of Jerry Springer – The Opera (Cambridge Theatre) in which she understudied and played the role of Shawntel (the poledancer!).

Television includes: Songs of Praise, Daytime Live, A Virgin Most Pure, Children in Need and First Light.
Concerts include: Soprano soloist since 1999 with the English National Orchestra conducted by Jae Alexander, Proms on the Pitch (Wessex Stadium, Weymouth) with Aled Jones and G4; with the RPO at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. Guest soloist at Raffles Hotel, Singapore; Candide (RFH), HMS Pinafore (Proms, Royal Albert Hall), Friday Night is Music Night (Radio 2) and Sondheim at 75 (Hackney Empire, for Radio 3) for the Maida Vale Singers. Principal soloist in Some Enchanted Evening (Proctor’s Theatre, NY, UK, South Africa and Taiwan); 10th Anniverary Concert of Les Misérables; and the TV Times Concert for Leukaemia (both Royal Albert Hall).
Sarah has recently recorded her debut CD, Showtime.
