Tim Rice
Lyrics
Tim Rice was born in Amersham in 1944. He was educated at Lancing College, Sussex and briefly at the Sorbonne in Paris. He met Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1965 and has since written the lyrics to four Lloyd Webber scores: The Likes of Us (1966) a musical based on the life of Dr Barnardo; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (1967) an operetta for children; Jesus Christ Superstar (1969) and Evita (1976). Lloyd Webber and Rice recently became the first writers to have three musicals playing simultaneously in the West End when a revival of Joseph joined Superstar (London's longest running musical ever) and Evita. Tim is s well known broadcaster appearing regularly on radio and TV, often displaying his vast and other wise useless knowledge of popular music. He is the co-author of the best selling Guinness Book of British record charts since their inception. He is a fanatical cricketer, running his own team Heartaches C.C. He lives in Oxfordshire, is married to Jane and has two children.
