Sound Design
After ten years as a Recording Engineer and Record Producer, Martin Levan began his theatrical career in 1982 when he supervised the sound for Song & Dance in London. Since then he and his company, Martin Levan Sound Design Limited, has been responsible for designing the sound for virtually all of the world-wide productions of Cats, The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love, Starlight Express, Requiem, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber concerts, this new production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Kiss of the Spiderwoman and Sunset Boulevard.
Other shows include: Carrie, The Baker's Wife, Blondel, Little Shop of Horrors, Moby Dick - A Whale of a Tale, Sag Mir Wo Die Blummen Sind and Showboat in Toronto. In 1991 Martin received the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) award for Best Sound Direction on the Los Angeles production of The Phantom of the Opera.
Martin's recordings include the cast albums for the majority of the above shows, including the original Broadway album of Cats which won him a Grammy award. His most recent recordings are Moby Dick - A Whale of a Tale and Kiss of the Spiderwoman.
Martin and his wife Karen live in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire with their three children, Remy, Toby and Kim.
