Tim Rice

 

Lyricist

 

Tim Rice was born in 1944. After leaving Lancing College in 1962, he spent a year in Paris, returning to England to take up law. His legal progress was less triumphant and, on 6th June 1966, he entered the entertainment business full time when he became a Management Trainee at EMI Records. He had met Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1965 and although their first musical, The Likes of Us, was never produced, the second Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, received its world premiere at Colet Court School, Hammersmith on 1st March 1968. He has plans for a musical about the last seven days in the life of Jesus Christ.
