Choreographer

 

Training: London School of Contemporary Dance, later joining the Company as both performer and choreographer.

 

Theatre includes: Mamma Mia! (worldwide – Dora Mavor Moore Award, Canada, and Helpman Award nomination, Australia), Bombay Dreams (London and Broadway – Tony Award nomination), Whistle Down the Wind, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (worldwide –Olivier Award nomination, Dramalogue Award), Jesus Christ Superstar (UK and Broadway), Song & Dance (worldwide – Green Room Award, Australia), Candide (Old Vic –Olivier Award for Best Musical), Hair (Old Vic –Olivier Award nomination), Into the Woods, The Boy From Oz (Australia), The Royal Hunt of the Sun (NT directed by Trevor Nunn) and The Siegfried and Roy Show (Mirage Hotel, Las Vegas).

 

Concerts include: Elaine Paige, Sarah Brightman, Wayne Sleep, Kate Bush, Cleo Laine, The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Celebration, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 50th birthday concert (Royal Albert Hall).

 

Operetta includes: The Mikado (English National Opera).

In 1999 Anthony Van Laast was awarded the MBE for Services to Dance and Choreography.
