Petula Clark

The most successful and beloved female recording artist to hail from England, Petula Clark conquered the international world of pop music, topping the US charts with the unforgettable Downtown (earning her the first of two Grammys). A long string of classics followed, including I Know a Place, You’d Better Come Home, Round Every Corner and Don’t Sleep in the Subway. Petula’s theatre credits include Sunset Boulevard in London; where she received one of the greatest standing ovations ever seen in the West End; Blood Brothers (Broadway and US tour); Maria in The Sound of Music (Apollo Theatre, London); Candida; Someone Like You. Petula made her screen debut at the age of 12 in A Medal For The General. Other film credits include Finian’s Rainbow (with Fred Astaire, directed by Francis Ford Coppola) and Goodbye Mr Chips with Peter O’Toole. Petula has made innumerable concert appearances including sell-out seasons at Caesar’s Palace, Las Vegas and Atlantic City, in addition to numerous tours in Europe, Canada, Australia and America. In July 1998, Petula was awarded the CBE by Queen Elizabeth for her continued support of charitable organisations and her achievements in the arts and entertainment industry. Petula’s new album, entitled Here For You, was recently released on Varese Sarabande records.
