Trained: Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Theatre: Credits as lighting designer include: The Secret Rapture (Minerva Theatre, Chichester), Too Far To Walk (King’s Head, Islington), Oleanna (Scottish tour), The Sleeper’s Den and The Difficult Unicorn (Southwark Playhouse), National Theatre of Brent’s The Messiah (Bush Theatre), The Troy Trilogy (RNT Studio), Arms and the Man (Orange Tree, Richmond). David Holmes has worked as associate lighting designer to Hugh Vanstone on productions including Bombay Dreams (Apollo Victoria Theatre), The Graduate (Gielgud Theatre London, Sydney, North American tour and Broadway), Art (Wyndham’s and Whitehall Theatres and UK tour), The Lady In the Van (Queen’s Theatre), Howard Katz (RNT), Life x 3 (RNT, Old Vic and UK tour), The Winter’s Tale, Antony and Cleopatra (RSC), Uncle Vanya and Twelfth Night (Donmar Warehouse and the Brooklyn Academy of Music), Orpheus Descending, The Blue Room (Donmar Warehouse), Mouth To Mouth (Royal Court). Other work as associate lighting designer includes: Ragtime (Piccadilly Theatre), Mamma Mia! (Prince Edward Theatre London, Toronto, US tour, Australian tour, Broadway and Europe), Jackie and The Seven Year Itch (Queen’s Theatre).

Opera: Lighting designer for Cosi Fan Tutte (Guildhall School); associate lighting designer to Hugh Vanstone for Dialogues des Carmélites (ENO and WNO), Carmen (Opera North) and Macbeth (Opéra Bastille, Paris).
