Jackie Clune studied drama at Kent University before becoming a Karen Carpenter sound-a-like tribute act. After six years as an academic at London University she has since become well known as a singer, comedian, writer, radio broadcaster and actress, touring internationally with Puppetry of the Penis, and nationally as hostess of Singalonga Sound of Music. Her solo comedy cabaret shows (Chicks With Flicks, An Audience With Jackie Clune, Bitchin’, It’s Jackie!, Boy Crazy) have played annually at the Edinburgh Festival Assembly Theatre before transferring to London (Arts Theatre, Drill Hall, King’s Head, Soho Theatre).

Theatre: Credits include Taboo (The Venue); Julie Burchill Is Away for which she received a What’s On Stage award nomination (Soho Theatre); A Wedding Story (Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Soho Theatre); Showstopper (Arts Theatre, Edinburgh Assembly Theatre); seven productions with Red Reg Theatre Company.

Television: Barry’s girlfriend in EastEnders, Waking the Dead, A Lump In My Throat – the John Diamond Story, Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC); The Bill (ITV); Team Captain for The Staying In Show (Channel 4); regular appearances on Night Fever (Channel 5). She has contributed sketch material to the 11 O’Clock Show (Channel 4), Comedy Nation (BBC) and Smack the Pony for which she also provides the title sequence and vocals (Channel 4).

Radio: Jackie Clune presents her own Sunday show for BBC London 94.9 and regularly contributes to Woman’s Hour and Front Row (BBC Radio 4).
