Backstage at Phantom 25
Andrew Lloyd Webber onstage at Phantom 25

On 1 and 2 October 2011, The Phantom of the Opera celebrated 25 years in London’s West End with a series of Anniversary performances at the Royal Albert Hall.

In this exclusive video clip, we go behind-the-scenes at the Royal Albert Hall as composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, producer Cameron Mackintosh, choreographer Gillian Lynne and Sierra Boggess (Christine) and Ramin Karimloo (The Phantom) prepared for the final 25th Anniversary performance on Sunday 2nd October 2011, which was also screened live to cinemas around the world.

In the video clip, Andrew visits Sierra and Ramin in their dressing rooms before the show. After the performance – which included a suitably fabulous Phantom finale – we also see members of the Cast and Creative Team leaving the stage after the performance, and get a little glimpse of the crowd waiting for them outside the Stage Door…

You can also watch footage of the Phantom 25 curtain calls and interviews with members of the creative team and cast on the official Phantom website, and view images from the curtain call and after party here.

This was such a wonderful night! I saw Phantom 25 at The Vue Cinema in Inverness – Thank you everyone at the Vue for making it a very special night – and it really was the next best thing to being at the Royal Albert Hall. Certainly what we saw must have been ‘the best view in the House’ it was quite lovely, with nothing missed.

The entire cast were spot on and perfection to watch and to listen to. Humour, Drama, Love, Hate, Passionate Emotions and some of the most beautiful music ever written are what make ‘Phantom’ so very special and magical.

Such a joy to see the enchanting Michael Crawford come on stage at the end, one of our most talented Actors, also to hear the amazing Sarah Brightman sing again. The lovely John Owen Jones along with other ‘Phantoms’ also making an appearance AND singing was just the Cherry on the Cake, for me.

The joy and emotion felt by the audience became evident when the entire audience in the CINEMA applauded passionately at the end. How extraordinary was that?

Warmest Congratulations to Lord Andrew, Sir Tim, Sir Cameron and everyone involved in this production for a wonderful moment in our lives, without you guys none of this could have happened! Thank you x

I had high hopes of the 2th aniversary and was not dissapointed; what a show! Briiliant vocals, orchastration, staging, the only down side was our side view seats circle and the 90 degree heat on the Saturday night; still the show kept as spellbound and the finale was just fab too.
Cant wait for the DVD so we see a full on view!

Lucky enough to get tickets for the Sunday night at the Royal Albert Hall. Brilliant just doesn’t come near. Literally a once in a lifetime experience. And what a reception for Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. Fantastic production, direction and performances. Still on a high a month later. Can’t wait to relive it all when the DVD arrives!

  5. Alison Pratt says:

I was there both Saturday and Sunday evening and it was truly amazing – I’m so glad that I was able to be part of it – thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a memorable weekend!
