In the Wizard of Oz Video Booth
Stephen Scott, who plays Uncle Henry in The Wizard of Oz, takes us backstage during a live performance of the show...

In the latest video blog from The Wizard of Oz, we have some more amazing behind-the-scenes footage. This time we’re in the Video Booth at the London Palladium with Stephen Scott (Uncle Henry/Ensemble). If you haven’t yet seen The Wizard of Oz, you may still be familiar with the scene from the film, where Dorothy is imprisoned in the Wicked Witch of the West’s house and dreams of Uncle Henry and Auntie Em.

For the scene onstage, the actors are seated in a sound-proof booth with screens showing what’s going on. It’s from here that they talk to Dorothy, appearing to her as she dreams of them asking her to come home. Stephen shows us how things work in the Video Booth – which is also used in another key scene in the show when Michael Crawford (The Wizard) instructs Dorothy and her friends to bring him the broomstick of the Wicked Witch.

Both scenes are performed live from the Video Booth every night. See PART 2 of our look at the Video Booth to see this scene performed live – coming soon! And get your Wizard of Oz tickets to see this scene as it happens…
