Monday 9th March 2009
I was feeling really nervous today because it was my first day back at the gym in nearly two weeks. I strapped my ankle up and started on the treadmill but I had to stop a couple of times to stretch my strapping which had become so uncomfortable. By the third time stopping I had to take it off completely and I ran so much better without it. I managed 5 miles today, which took over an hour, I think it was 1 hour 11 minutes. It was quite hard to keep going but I suppose you’re going to lose stamina when you haven’t run in a while. I will keep persisting though!!
Monday 16th March 2009
Well I felt slightly relieved today because again it’s been since last Monday that I went to the gym and I did OK today. I wanted to run 5 miles again to see how I am stamina wise and I’m happy to say I felt good. In fact, I felt I could have pushed myself a bit more so I was well pleased. It also took me less time as well, 1 hour 9 minutes. So, I think on Thursday I’ll probably push myself again and see what happens. My ankle felt great, no problems at all.
Thursday 19th March 2009
I received some post today from The Prostate Cancer Charity about last minute advice on the run up to the big day. I’m picking up my number at the O2 Centre on the week of the big day, how exciting!!! It totally spurred me on for my run today. One hour and 35 minutes for 7 miles and the only thing that was hurting me was my head from the very bad taste of music used at the gym!!! I’m trying to get my stamina back and it’s slowly beginning to happen. I also want to thank Emma and Liza for their contribution to the fundraising website. It really does make a difference. 9 miles in under 2 hours… not bad at all!! I must admit by the last mile I was flagging badly but I kept pushing myself. My legs did feel like rubber though ten minutes after running and my face was bright red!! I’m hoping to do my last massive run next week for the last push before I have to just take it easy in the last couple of weeks before the run, as you are advised not to overdo it during this time. I am getting so excited now, it’s only weeks away and I have been working really hard for this since January.
