Theatre: John recently worked with Harold Prince on the world premiere of 3hree at the Prince Music Theater. He has been with By Jeeves since its US premiere, earning a 1998 Helen Hayes Award nomination. Most recently, John played Richard Henry Lee in 1776 for the Reprise! series in L.A. Broadway: Sunset Boulevard (opposite Betty Buckley). National Tours: Cats, 42nd Street. Off-Broadway: Olympus on My Mind, Dames at Sea. Regional: Company (Cleveland Playhouse), Stand-Up Tragedy (Cincinnati Playhouse), The Dining Room (Studio Arena), Hay Fever (St. Louis Rep.), Room Service (Pittsburgh Public), Riverview (Goodman), On the Town (Helen Hayes nom./Arena Stage), title role in George M! (Goodspeed/2001 Conn. Critics’ Circle Award).

Theatre: Martin Jarvis’s award-winning appearances include West End and Royal National Theatre plays by Alan Ayckbourn (Woman in Mind, Henceforward) Harold Pinter (Other Places) and Michael Frayn. He starred opposite Judi Dench in Sir Peter Hall’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest and in Peter Nichols’s Passion Play at the Donmar Theatre.

Film: Titanic and David Hare’s Absence of War.

Television: Countless guest-star television roles including Lorna Doone, Inspector Morse, Touch of Frost, Murder, She Wrote, and Walker, Texas Ranger.

Book: His autobiography Acting Strangely is published in the US.

He was awarded the OBE by the Queen for his services to drama.
